“The Kick.”
Or trip, in this case.
Or in scientific terms, the hypnic jerk. =]
A common theory..
As you slide toward sleep, there’s a point at which your muscles really let go. Your brain, which after all did evolve from a reptile brain, interprets this rush of relaxation data as a sure sign that you’re falling down. And it tells your arms and legs to thrash around and keep you upright — which, of course, you’re not.

..while researching colleges on my laptop, which made it just a little more confusing. I actually never wanted to watch that movie but my dad got the DVD. A good movie for sure, but not one I would file away as a favorite. The idea is fine, and actually correlates with what I’ve been learning in Psychology, as was the special effects filming, which IMO was the best element.
What brings it down for me is that there was really no effect on my mindset. It was a fine piece of action to itself but I’m left with no feeling when the film’s over. Honestly, I don’t watch movies often, but when I do I want one that makes me appreciate its aesthetic beauty and then leave me with something to ponder afterwards. You’d think Inception would be that kind of mindfu*k every talked about but it really wasn’t for me.
Oh, and one shocking thing about the film: No sex, no humor, not even blood. Just pure action start to finish!

Does this have something to do with Inception? I never watched it but I heard something about a top..
We have some movie choices at camp: Inception, Despicable Me, Toy Story 3, and Twilight. I, being not a movie person at all, just completely ignored all of it. But when it came time to sign up, Despicable Me and Toy Story 3 each got a handful, Twilight got absolutely none, and the 60 spots for Inception just completely flew off the shelf. That forced me to Google Inception just to see what the mad dash was for, and heck now I want to see it. The name itself sounds like a totally generic action or thriller, but Nolan + DiCaprio makes me think this will end up THE film of 2010. Except now it’s too late for me to get in on it. Having been put into a movie state of mind, I blindly signed up for Despicable Me. And now I kinda regret it because the plot just sounds utterly stupid. Well, I shall find out tomorrow! Good night.
