    Photos of the 8.8 quake that hit Chile this morning. I hand-picked this quartet from a large batch of excellent photography compiled by The Big Picture.

    So this morning, there was a 3.8 earthquake a couple dozen miles from where I live in Illinois. And apparently millions of people from multiple states reported that they felt the shock while I slept right through it. In my defense, the quake was calculated to be 33,000 times weaker than the one in Haiti.
