On the eve of the 2012 North American International Auto Show, we had an exclusive, behind-the-scenes peek at the new Lexus LF-LC concept car, a core from which all future Lexus models may draw inspiration.
The side profile looks bad, but otherwise I’m super glad they got the “hourglass” grille right! The one they showed on the GS concept was terrible. The point (if you ask me) is to have the grille split toward the sides of the car as it flows back, meaning the “waist” of the hourglass is at the leading edge at the nose of the car like they have here. Now it’s fantastic.
Honda’s AC-X concept may seem like sci-fi, but it likely previews Acura’s future styling
LOVE IT! It’s rare to see truly creative car designs nowadays. And this is coming from Honda, which has been terrible with design in recent years. Bonus points for the Kammback and beautifully-raked greenhouse.
Cadillac Ciel Concept car is a four-seat convertible
Mm.. now that’s what a Cadillac should be.

2013 Audi A3 Avant - Mockup
I made this rather rough Photoshop mockup from a CGI side profile of the upcoming Audi A3 sedan. Honestly, I did this on a whim but it still took me more than an hour. I think it would’ve helped if I used the Clone and Heal tools but I kinda forgot since I never really learned them.
Beyond the wagon conversion, I recolored it Candy Green because.. why the hell not! I “turned on” the lights and smoked the tail lenses. Finally, I “powder-coated” the wheels (though I doubt anyone would really do that to carbon fiber wheels).
Specs-wise, according to the concept at Geneva 2011, it would have a turbocharged inline-5 good for 408hp and 368 lb-ft of torque. A dual-clutch 7-speed brings it to 62mph in a nice 4.1 seconds, plus Quattro to all four 20” wheels. Of course, that’s just dreaming. Audi wouldn’t sensibly put all that into its lowest-level model.
My rambling about design continues.. here.
Words not needed.

Mazda recently switched head of design, and this is the first concept out representing its new KODO design scheme. The Mazda Shinari is only a concept, but its design will obviously flow into upcoming production models. More here.
This looks awfully nice, especially for a Toyota. At first I thought it was one of those strictly-concept supercars, but it’s actually a cheap, practical RWD coupe meant to go against 370Zs, Genesis’, and Accord and Altima coupes. Coming in late 2011.
