Egypt is free! Remember the 11th of February when your grandkids ask you about World History!
People throughout Egypt are rejoicing tonight as the Vice President announced Mubarak’s resignment. While this has been an incredibly interesting two weeks to watch as a bystander, I’m real happy for the people of Egypt that they will finally be able to sleep soundly. Egyptians no longer need to worry about physical harm, but political conflict will inevitably continue since there is no clear ruler at this point.
In addition, the revolution is expected to emanate globally with different effects. The White House immediately congratulated the Egyptian people for their achievement, possibly setting Egypt’s future as an American responsibility. The remaining Arab nations with dictatorships will also feel pressure to change their governments, hopefully for the better. As disparate as it is, even China, the world’s largest non-democratic power, will likely be strained as the world becomes increasingly democratic.
“For the first time, Egypt has a chance to be democratic, to be free, to have a sense of dignity, of freedom. So it’s amazing. It’s just like something we never experienced in our lifetime.” -Mohamed ElBaradei

This CNN headline is way too biased, even though I personally dislike Toyota.
If you haven’t heard, in addition to Toyota’s two massive recalls regarding “floor mat entrapment” and “sticky pedals”, they are now recalling 2010 Prius’ over an issue in its hybrid braking system. Also, Ford is having the same problem with its hybrid Fusion/Milans, but they’re not getting as much bad press.
Holy shit, it’s a mouse!
