Another day has drifted by me like a phantom. This is very weird.
The thunderstorm that never came finally came this morning. It was brutal. The wind and rain felt like a hurricane, and believe me, I’ve been in one. A neighbor’s tree split in two and fell. I heard some people lost power.
What luck have we that on such day was my Entrepreneurship class field trip.
Forget the storm, we visited a very cool company called Aquascape. They are one of the pioneers of the landscape pond industry. Yes, an awfully boring industry to my knowledge. However, their office building is state-of-the-art in many facets and definitely the best workplace I’ve ever seen. It’s so good that they offer regular tours of the building. For example, the facility has an indoor soccer field, basketball court, walleyball court, sauna, hot tub, plunge pool, workout center, beanbag theatre, sleeping quarters, scuba dive well, prairie roof, roaming golden retriever, and secret chamber. Very awesome, eh? We also had two French exchange students on the trip and they seemed like cool catz.
The company’s CEO was on hand and gave us a pep talk about the unimportance of grades. He’s ADD and an overall exciting guy.
After that, the 70 of us took over a Portillo’s for lunch, which was unfortunate because I don’t like meat much and especially not hot dogs. I don’t remember eating at Portillo’s before, and with it being known as the premiere hot dog place, I decided to give hot dogs one last try with a Chili Cheese Dog. It wasn’t bad, but certainly not enough to prevent me from never eating hot dogs again. Gosh, was that a triple negative in the last sentence?
So it was a decent field trip. I would’ve gotten so much more out of it if I hadn’t been so dazed. I don’t know what’s wrong with me.
